When folded in the textile frame, this module is an unobtrusive companion, quickly ready for use anywhere and easy to stow away again afterwards. The textile module support has riveted eyelets (9.5 mm inner diameter) for hanging or fixing the module, such as with rubber cord or ratlines. The module can, of course, be laid out quite simply. It also comes with set-up supports that may be used to align the module to low sun and are secured in place by Velcro straps when not in use. The outside pocket contains all connection cables (1 m module connection, 3.9 m at the input of the PHOCOS charge controller and approx. 1.4 m at the controller output), a battery temperature sensor (with 2 m connection cable) as well as 3 adapter cables for connection to the battery or to the vessel's electrical system. . Although the PHOCOS charge controller used is automatically capable of recognising 12 or 24 volt battery systems, the module can only be used in 12 volt wiring systems due to the 20.9 volt Vmp output voltage. The controller is not splashproof and must therefore be housed in a dry environment! Due to the plug connection on the module connection cable, you can also permanently install the controller. To fix the controller, two 4 mm screws are required, which can be inserted/screwed through the controller housing from the front. The distance between the holes is 69 mm or 57 mm to the top edge of the housing. The USB output can only be used when the 12 V battery is connected. The FOX-062 is a highly modern miniature-charge regulator for 12 V and 24 V solar systems. Even though it is small in size, the overcharge protection is designed for a solar current of 6.6 A. This corresponds to 120 Wp max. solar power at 12 V or 240 Wp at 24 V. Reverse current protection is integrated. The charging characteristic can be set for lead-acid, GEL, LiFePO4 or AGM batteries using the red DIP switch in the controller housing. The opening can be closed with a slide, making accidental change and dirt entry impossible. A protective SureSeal socket is located on the input end, into which a SureSeal plug can be inserted. A charging degree effectiveness of 98% is achieved. In contrast to MPPT regulators, this regulator type has a up to 20% higher charging performance while using 12 V or 24 V solar modules. High converter losses are fully avoided. This series controller really stands out in very low lighting; in a normal MPPT regulator, losses would strongly influence the flow rate. Automatic 12 V / 24 V recognition After plugging in the controller, the controller checks the current battery voltage and thereby determines the system voltage of the battery. LED display The FOX-062 is equipped with a three-colour LED. A variety of information regarding the battery and charge can be presented by combining the LED colours and adjusting the light duration or flashing frequency: Flashing red: battery empty (< 20 %) Constant red: battery low (< 30 %) Orange: battery normal (30% - 70 %) Constant green: battery normal (> 70 %) Flashing green: battery full (100 %) When charging current is flowing from the solar module into the battery, the LED flickers briefly every few seconds.
